5 Things We LOVE To Do as a Family!

We've tried to prioritize experiences over things and quality of time spent over quantity as two working parents with hectic schedules we have to find balance and family time where we can get it. Here's how we spend our time together.

#1 - Family Games

We frequently introduce new games, do family challenges or host game nights with friends. My son has learned so much from playing games. We largely credit Monopoly for teaching him math. Current favorites: LIFE, Dominoes, Jenga, Stratego, Battleship and any card game!

#2 - Sports

One of the best decisions we ever made was getting my son into sports. We tried many different sports and it took time to find the right fit, but he ultimately fell in love with baseball. He's an avid sports watcher and consumer of sports information on every single sport pretty much ever played with a near photographic memory for stats, players and teams but its baseball that he works at daily. We've found an incredible community in our local little league as well as extended that network to the travel ball teams and training spots he works out at. We spend the vast majority of our evenings and weekends supporting him at baseball and honestly there is nothing else I would rather be doing. Sports have taught him commitment, work ethic, team work, setting goals and achieving them, that winning isn't everything, expanded his network of friends, math, analytics and strategy in understanding the game fundamentals and so many more life lessons. It’s also been a special thing that he can do with his dad.

#3 - Puzzles

We started small puzzles really young and its stuck with us over time. We've moved on to really big puzzles particularly of places we want to travel to and learn about. The latest one we did was for Cinque Terre in Italy, our next big bucket list trip.

#4 - Cook

We try to do fun baking and cooking projects together. My son is learning to read and follow recipes and be creative. We are also working towards my son learning more independence in the kitchen too so he can make quick snacks, early breakfast and other easy things for himself.

#5 - Travel

If we have a free weekend, we take advantage and head off to a favorite spot or on a new adventure. We frequently travel to see and with our extended family too. One of the nice things about being entrepreneurs is that when we do have down time we can take advantage and head out of town for as long as we would like. Its a little harder these days with elementary school in session but we actually get a lot of days off, maybe too many! On this year's agenda, Washington DC, New York, Sedona, San Francisco, Palm Springs, Tahoe, Hawaii, Cleveland and Alaska
