Upcoming Preschool Series in LA

Tracy F. 4 years ago

LOS ANGELES and SFV PRESCHOOL FAIRS and PRESCHOOL SERIES

The Parents Education League of Los Angeles (PEL) is hosting the 2014 L.A. Preschool Fair on Sunday, October 19th from 2:00pm-5:00pm at the Wilshire Boulevard Temple in West LA as well as the 2014 SFV Preschool Fair on Sunday, October 5th from 12pm-3pm at the Skirball Cultural Center. More than 70 preschools will be represented at these free events. These free Fairs will kick off the largest Preschool Series that PEL has hosted, and is expected to draw hundreds of parents and children from throughout the city.

This fall’s Preschool Series also includes free Workshops on October 18th and 28th as well as a Preschool Admissions Panel on October 22nd.  PEL is offering this entire series of events to help parents navigate the early childhood education offerings. “These are wonderful opportunities for parents to explore the variety of early childhood educational options available to them in Los Angeles,” says PEL President Desiree Lapin. “There are a multitude of things to take into consideration when looking at preschools. These include if your child is potty trained, if they are ready for a full-time or part-time program, and if the school environment overall is one that will be a good fit for your family.”

Lapin said the PEL has had a terrific response from preschool directors who welcome an opportunity to help educate parents about their programs and venues. The Schools represented are from all over L.A. and differ in approaches to child development, length of program and readiness requirements.

In addition to meeting school directors and representatives, there will be an opportunity to sign up for School Open Houses when parents will have a chance to visit the schools for a guided tour. The fair will help young parents determine if their child would thrive in a Montessori, Waldorf or Reggio Emilia school or if a more traditional approach would be a better match.

Los Angeles now joins other metropolitan areas such as San Francisco, Chicago, and New York where Preschool Fairs are annual events.  The 2014 L.A. and S.F.V. Fairs and Workshops are sponsored by ScholarShare, California’s 529 College Savings Plan.

The Parents Education League of Los Angeles is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing Los Angeles parents access to the most objective, current and comprehensive information regarding schools and education in Los Angeles.
